I'm Drowning!!

Awe.. Thanks for your concern and checkin on me. I'm not really drowning.

But I've got A LOT going on right now. I'm just feeling super behind in the blogging world and I don't know that I'll be able to catch up for another couple weeks. Tomorrow John and I are headed to the Grand Canyon for a white water rafting trip we've had planned with our church group for probably a year. My mom is here at the house and she'll be holding down the fort and watching my little man. And right after we get back from that trip, we're heading to San Diego to meet our new nefew, Wyatt and also participate in the Camp Pendelton Mud Run along with my bff's sister and some friends from here. It should be fun! Camping on the beach with the church group... Hangin out with my bff. Phew- it'll be a good time. But the next 2 weeks are outta control. So I'll post when all that is done.

For now, I'll just throw up some pics of our little day trip up to Sedona/Jerome.

Thanks TSM

If you aren't already familiar with TSM (The Shopping Mama), you need to be!
Kate is a good friend of mine and the shopping mama! She is an amazing woman, amazing mother and also an amazing shopper!

"The Shopping Mama is THE source for all the unique and fabulous things you want and need for your little ones but don't have time to find yourself."

And the things she finds are great! Things that you need, before you even know you need it. Example- She reviews car seat trays, hand-made toys and clothes and adorable card stock that is just perfect for thank you's. One of the things that I found that I need is a blog book that you can just download directly from your blog! The point is, there are so many really cool and crafty things that she brings to your attention!

She is promoting Military Spouses this week in lieu of Memorial Day and we've been in touch since I'd love to get a write up by such a fashion forward gal! Today was the day!!! So stop on by her amazing site and while you're there check out my spot light!!!!

How does she keep up with the site while taking care of those two beautiful children and a husband so effortlessly?? I sure could use a lesson!!

Dot COM!

Wow! I am so elated, I don't even know where to begin.
I've been super busy lately. I always feel busy, but the busyness has been on crack lately!! I have posted a couple times about my sewing "hobby." Well now that I've settled into being a "stay-at-home mommy," I've decided to take my hobby to the next level. I bought a web site!

And after the transaction went through, I realized that I HAD to do something with this space on the Internet. I thought it'd just magically appear- my sparkling, beautiful dot com.

When I logged into the control panel the first time, I knew I was in over my head. There were so many icons that I had NO IDEA what to do with. And the lingo- who the heck really gets what URL, Meta Tag, Domain, FTP, Server, Platform, and Encrypted pages are all about anyway? Seriously, I think they are multiple names for the same thing (maybe some of them?). Anyway, I stumbled across a "build a site for dummies" icon that I began to work with. Even the "dummy" edition took me some time to figure out and it was NOT pretty. But I kept telling myself, at least it's functional. I'm not a corporation.. I'm a small business- very small. It's just me. So here's a look at my site that I clumsily made:
No need to zoom in.. There's really not much to look at.

Then I was chatting with my brother on the phone and mentioned my website project. He jumped in and volunteered to help (HUGE sigh of RELIEF). I had thought to ask him, after all his site is pretty much amazing with cool graphics, features and layout- and you gotta love the frag cloud! But I didn't want to bog him down. He's always on TDY, he's working on his MBA, he has a lovely wife and new baby to divide time with. But he offered so I pounced! It was going to be a slow transition. He'd work on it when he could and play with the effects at his leisure. So he thought. I mentioned an event that TSM is hosting and how I was just wondering if he could have a working website up by then, which was... oh.. a week away. So we (he) have been working hard to put it all together. In the midst of this website shenanigans, I learned a few things. I learned that if you make a selection in whatever photo editing software you use and you save it as a .png file, you get this:

It's just floating there. No messy white box around it- just the bag. Ahhh- it's kind of refreshing, don't you think?
Let's see it again.

ZZWAK!
Hmm.. Pretty cool.
Those are the two (still have four to go) purses that I got finished this past week. Just in time for a photo shoot.

And now for the unveiling. I have sent out emails, I posted it on Facebook.. But this is my BLOG. I gotta let my blogosphere know! So if it's the second or even third time you've seen this news- I am sorry... Just look at the site again to appease me. I promise, I'm almost done shouting it to the world!

Check out my GLORIOUS website (by that adjective, you should know to give NO credit to me and ALL to my brother- Snakeye!)

Wilson Domination!!

I previously posted about Crossfit- the workout that has swept Luke Air Force Base and subsequently, our lives as well.

My husband is a Crossfit FREAK. Seriously. He does almost every WOD (workout of the day) and misses on rare occasions. He is usually the guy to beat because he gets such a thrill trying to go harder, faster and stronger than everyone else. I knew he was competitive, but this is getting rediculous!!

They opened a gym dedicated to crossfit and we've been moseying in to do some workouts. I've been bringing some of my church friend gals who have become my work out buddies. We've gotten in with the trainer there, Shayngo! Well, John signed the two of us up for the "crossfit games" that the base was putting on.

The workout: Fight Gone Bad
Here's what it is- straight from the website.

In this workout you move from each of five stations after a minute. This is a five-minute round from which a one-minute break is allowed before repeating. We've used this in 3 and 5 round versions. The stations are:

  1. Wall-ball: 20 pound ball, 10 ft target. (Reps)
  2. Sumo deadlift high-pull: 75 pounds (Reps)
  3. Box Jump: 20" box (Reps)
  4. Push-press: 75 pounds (Reps)
  5. Row: calories (Calories)

The clock does not reset or stop between exercises. On call of "rotate," the athlete/s must move to next station immediately for good score. One point is given for each rep, except on the rower where each calorie is one point.

So the competition was Friday! We suffered through it....
Wall Ball- 20# (14# for me) ball had to go 10 feet high!
numb to the pain...
wishing i was numb to the pain.
box jumps actually felt like a break to me
And...

We won! Both John and I got first in our "Big Dog" divisions. (Big Dog just meant that we did the heaviest weights of the 3 classes- Puppies, Buttercups and Big Dogs). Me with a score of 264 (btw- my work out buddy, Abby- who entered last minute finished in second!!) and my handsome groom with the impressive score of 325 (he was actually disappointed with that since he got a 342 in a practice run).

We stood up on the stage and accepted our metals as a family. How cool is that? :)

A Special Day

It was a first for me (along with many of my friends.. It seems that it is a year of babies)! I'm a MOM this year on Mother's day. I remember last year, being 7 months preggo, contemplating the meaning of being a mother and just feeling deep appreciation for my mother. It's amazing how the prospect of my changing status (becoming a mommy) made me revisit my relationship with my mother and now even more I love, appreciate, understand and respect MY mom!

So for my first Mom's day, I was treated to breakfast in bed and a day of effortless life-- that means that John took Riley most of the day so I didn't have to cart him around with me. Don't get me wrong- I LOVE that he goes where I go but when I get time without, I take it. Life was so much easier before the car seat.

We also took the opportunity to get Riley dedicated during the baby dedication at our church! This was really more for John and I than Riley. We stood upon the stage in front of our church family and vowed to raise our son with the love, knowledge and understanding of the Lord. Then the congregation also had a part as they vowed to hold us accountable and responsible to our word!

Pastor Steve couldn't help but reiterate to the congregation Riley's birth story which made me blush and apparently shut my eyes. In all the "Pastor Steve" pictures, my eyes were shut for all of them.. At least I was smiling. :)
I think Riley got a little stage fright- Look at that face!

Water Baby

Holy Cow is my kid a water baby!! And it's not just me who thinks so.. My friend, Abby was a swim coach and she would do baby lessons on the side, so Riley's getting professional training when we go to the pool! He can't get enough!!! We've taken him a couple of times so far and every time his eyes light up as soon as we get pool side. And once I step in with him in route... forget about it!

I had the girls play with him so I could do what I do.. take lottsa pictures!

Look at the sheer GLEE on his face!!
Abby says that it's pretty rough getting a baby on their back in the water. Riley puts up with it pretty well- even if he'd much rather be turned over.So happy!!
And then things took a turn for the worst.

Riley's been having bowel issues lately... Maybe he has the bug that tormented John and I a little bit ago.. Maybe something I am feeding him isn't sitting quite right.. I'm trying to figure it out still and I won't go into detail on my son's bowel habbits... I bring it up cuz wouldn't you know that he started making "the face" in the pool. You know... The Face. So I got him outta there and realized that he didn't have any extra diapers in the bag.. Uh Oh!! Who is that kid's mother anyway??!

So we hung out with the NASTY SWAMP DIAPER on for a bit to make sure the storm had passed.

Then off with it say I! And it was naked time!
Because of the fiasco, our pool time got cut short and I scrounged to find something to serve as a temporary (very temporary) diaper till I got home. Luckily I live exactly a mile away and since I drove, it took like a minute. I think the little guy likes the naked time a little too much.

You got us...

Dear Friends- You know who you are (even if we're not totally sure just yet),

Thanks for the free toilet paper!!! Our downstairs bathroom has the most thin, cheap stuff that ever existed (I think gas stations in the ghetto have better TP than what we've got) all because my husband likes to save a buck! But now with this generous donation, we can use that instead.

I wish I was kidding, but John really did roll some back up and bring it in for use.

And the other thing.. What gives with our ferocious guard dog?!?! Not a peep from Cana!

Ahh- how I love my dear sweet [cheap- ehhh hemm- I mean thrifty] husband!!!
And of course we love our friends!!!
